A safe and well‑maintained home depends on both you and your landlord meeting your responsibilities. As a renter, treating the property with care and reporting issues promptly helps keep the unit in good condition and prevents small problems from becoming major ones. You should always notify your landlord right away if you notice concerns with electrical systems, heating and cooling or appliances.

Your Landlord’s Responsibilities:

• Maintain the structural safety of the unit
• Keep electrical, plumbing, heating, etc., in safe and proper working order
• Provide and maintain receptacles in common areas for multiple units
• Deliver a dwelling free of insects and pests, including in common areas

Your Responsibilities as a Tenant:

• Keep interior and exterior areas clean and safe
• Use utilities and appliances responsibly
• Keep all plumbing fixtures clean and clog-free
• Prevent moisture buildup and mold
• Remove garbage and other waste safely, using the receptacles provided
• Keep the home free of insects and pests. Report infestations promptly
