Employers Team with Virginia Housing to Offer Housing Education to Staff

March 6, 2026

Virginia Housing’s mission is powered by partnerships. By collaborating with businesses, nonprofits and community organizations, we connect the Virginians we serve to critical housing resources, expanding opportunity and increasing access statewide.

Recently, Virginia Housing put this into action with Bryant & Stratton to provide their associates with the opportunity to learn more about how Virginia Housing can support their efforts to buy or rent a home. Events like these allow us to help consumers build confidence, expand their knowledge and take meaningful steps toward achieving their housing goals.

“Housing is such a big issue for people,” said Virginia Housing Education and Training Manager Cynthia Taylor. “When a business brings us in, it strengthens the relationship between the employer and employee. It shows employees that their employer cares about them beyond just the workplace, and it’s a win-win for Virginia Housing because it’s another chance to carry out our mission.”

The presentation included summaries of the loans and grants that Virginia Housing offers to make owning a home more affordable, including the Down Payment Assistance Grant, Closing Cost Assistance Grant, Plus Second Mortgage and SPARC programs. You can learn more about each of these programs here.

The team also encouraged attendees to sign up for our homebuyer education and renter education courses, the former of which is a prerequisite for accessing Virginia Housing loans and grants.

“I wasn’t aware of any of the grants that are out there,” said one Bryant & Stratton staff member. “It was helpful to hear about what’s available and the prerequisites to qualify, as well as just getting someone to go to in case we have more questions or need more clarification.”

Bryant & Stratton frequently offers learning opportunities like this one as part of its efforts to give employees opportunities beyond the workplace. Fourteen Bryant & Stratton associates attended the event.

“People may not be able to attend a class on a Saturday,” said Taylor. “When we go into the workplace, our products and services are right there for them.”

Beyond Bryant & Stratton, Virginia Housing recently participated in events for employees at Smithfield Foods and Henrico County Public Schools, and the team is eager to build more partnerships in the near future.
